Threepeat for 8u Tourney Team!
Congratulations to our 8u Tournament team coached by Jeff Steigerwald! The boys brought home their 3rd championship in a row this past weekend at Brad Mar PIne. Defense has carried the team much of the season but the bats that woke up at the end of the Pine Richland tournament stayed hot and carried the team to victory. After stumbling in their first pool play game to Avonworth (9-8), the team re-focused and took no mercy on their opponents going forward. They rebounded to win their next pool play game against Ingomar (22-6) setting them up as a 2 seed on their side of the bracket for elimination play. The team needed to win 3 games if they wanted to bring home the trophy on Sunday. They started off with a big win against 3 seed Moon (15-4). That win set up a rematch with Avonworth for the right to move on to the championship. The team left no doubt in the rematch, scoring 5 runs in the 1st inning and avenging their only loss in 3 tournaments by winning 22-5. The offense kept rolling and the defense turned in another stellar performance in the Championship game and the team posted an impressive win over Mars (17-2). That closes out an impressive summer tournament season for the team – 5 tournaments, 5 championship games, 3 championships!! Congratulations boys – thanks for representing SALL so impressively.

Congratulations to our 9u boys for taking home 2nd place this past weekend in our home tournament at Kiwanis!!

Coach Mike Crawford writes:
Our 9U Titans won 2nd Place to Blackhawk in our home hosted tourney this past week. We had to battle from the #7 seed due to a tough 5-5 tie vs Hampton (we were up 5-0) and a tough comeback 8-7 loss to Ingomar (we were up 7-0) in pool play. We got our revenge against #2 Hampton in the Quarterfinal 7-6 and then had a super solid W (2nd of the summer) against a VERY good #3 Seneca Valley team 3-1 in our Semi to reach the Championship. Blackhawk is thought by most to be more of an “A-caliber” team that was on a trophy hunt. We played them tighter than anyone thought and lost “only” 7-0 in the Final, whereas they steamrolled and 10-runned every other team 12-2 in 4/5 innings. After a hot week of Shaler hitting, our bats went quiet in the Championship game and we had 3 unusual errors in the game which gave up most of their 7 runs….which means….we can 100% beat that team!! 🙂

All in all – a great week of SALL baseball. SO proud of our 9U/10U families!!!!!!!!! On to Ingomar for last of the summer this coming week. We are poised for high expectations of following up our #2 with a big #1!!! We play 7:45p Thu and Fri at Vestal Park in Wexford (Field #3).

Congratulations boys and Good Luck at Ingomar!!

The 12U Fastpitch Team places 2nd in Hampton Tourney. The ladies were back in action locally after an unsuccessful bid to win the Little League State Championship last week in Coatesville, PA.

They started off Friday night with a strong defensive effort, but ultimately came up short to Ingomar 2-1. They bounced back Saturday afternoon by scoring 4 in the final inning to walk off the host team Hampton 6-5. They finished pool play on a sour note by falling to Bauerstown 10-0.

The girls came out strong on Sunday with 7 runs over the first 2 innings & held on to avenge the earlier loss to Bauerstown 9-5 & make their way to the championship game. A tough first inning doomed them in the finale, but the girls fought hard until the very end scoring 3 runs in the 7th to give Ingomar a scare before falling 7-5.

Congratulations on a great run to Addy Applbaum, Mara Beatty, Maddy Clarke, Olivia Gieraltowski, Jordyn Kirby, Trinity Milford, Cydney Mubel, Graci Ricci, Lauren Wechuck, & Megan Wilson.
